We’ve all been in that game where some dork runs around drop-shotting you. In most cases he’s got a a modded controller which provides an additional “B” button on the back. Sometimes it’s someone who uses a different controller layout to move the crouch button from B to the right Joystick. However these guys do it, drop shots are hard to counter, and difficult to perform.
Holding the controller in the “Claw” grip will allow you to drop shot, shoot, and aim all at the same time.
It’s performed by taking your index finger away from the trigger, curling it down and clamping the B button . Your “birdie” finger now becomes your firing finger, and your thumb remains in the same spot, with the same responsibility – aiming.

Now, of course, you don’t have to hold the controller in this position the WHOLE match, just when you want to get a few drop shots in. Or when you know there are guys just around the corner, but not sure of where you can prepare yourself for the drop shot.
And there you have it! It take about 15 minutes to really let your fingers get used to their new duties. But trust me… once your hand is used to the new position, it will be a piece of cake.
Pros
- You’re in movement – Plain and simple, a moving target is harder to hit
- You’re still able to fire while in the motion of a drop shot
- You have improved hip fire accuracy because you are prone
- The game adds the increased accuracy the instant the B button is pressed!
So as you are falling down, you have Prone Level Accuracy! (Make sense?)

- Lag surprisingly has a lot to do with dodging those bullets
- In most cases, you can kill the enemy before their screen can even register you’re in the middle of a drop shot…
In my opinion the last reason is the main reason why drop shots are so effective.
Cons
- To perform a drop shot, most people have to take their thumb off the right joystick to reach and hold the B button.
This means you can’t aim while going prone. - Once you’re prone after a drop shot, you’re venerable to other approaching enemies.
